Unlike the Dispense Summary feature, the Audit Trail option offers complete tracking of user activity and instrument logs that can be exported in a .PDF file. The Audit Trail option can be accessed from the Tools menu in the MANTIS software.
Audit Trail Option
Important: In order to enable the Audit Trail feature, you need to activate the User Management license and select the Audit Trail Options in the Role Management window. For more information, see Managing the User Roles. Contact FORMULATRIX support for further assistance and/or to purchase the license.

In the Audit Trail window, you can set the audit trail log components and export the .PDF file by using the following functionalities:
Export Date Time Range — Defines the time range of the audit trail log you want to export. You can set the time range of the instrument logs since you installed the MANTIS system to the current date.
View Document button — Click this button to display the audit trail log file that you have selected in the Log File Name list.
Export Selected Log(s) button — Click this button to export the selected audit trail log file in .PDF format. For more information, see Exporting the Audit Trail Log File.
Export All Logs button — Click this button to export all audit trail log files in the Log File Name list.
Audit Trail Settings button — Before exporting the log files, click this button to display log components of your preference in the .PDF audit trail file. You can also select which components should be stored for future audit trail reports. See Managing the Audit Trail Log Components for more information.
Audit Trail Settings Window
The log components include:
Enable Password Protection option — Select this option to enable password authentication of the audit trail log .PDF. This allows encryption when exporting and accessing the exported file. This feature is particularly useful if you want to ensure your dispense log security, especially if your MANTIS system is used by multiple users within your laboratory. To disable this feature, deselect the Enable Password Protection option. See Setting Up the PDF Log File Encryption Password for more information.
View Export Directory button — Click this button for quick access to the log file export directory.
By default, the audit trail file directory is located in the Audit Trail folder provided by MANTIS in the software installation location. This will be automatically displayed in the provided field, for example: C:\ProgramData\Formulatrix\Mantis\1\Data\User\Audit Trail. You can change the file directory based on your preference by using the Change button.
Note: The Enable Password Protection option and View Export Directory button are available based on your roles. If the Audit Trail Options in Role Management are selected, the features will be automatically activated. Otherwise, both features will be hidden. For more information, see Managing the User Roles.
In the Audit Trail window, select a time range of the log files you want to export by clicking the dropdown button in the provided fields.

OPTIONAL: Define the export location of your preference by following the steps below:
Click the Change button under the options menu bar.
Select the destination folder or create a new one in the Browse For Folder window.
Click OK.
Note: To centralize the log files, MANTIS will revert the modified Audit Trail folder to the default location after you close the Audit Trail window. Repeat steps a-c if you want to select the destination location for the next log report.
Choose from the following options to export the log file.
Select a log file from the Log File Name list, and then click the Export Selected Log(s) button .
Export all available log files in the Log File Name list by clicking the Export All Logs button .
OPTIONAL: Enter a password when the Set New Audit Trail Document window appears.
Click OK. Your log file will be automatically saved on the defined location.
The Audit Trail Log .PDF File Has Been Successfully Exported
In the Audit Trail Settings window, you can manage which log components will be displayed in the Audit Trail file and/or saved in the storage for the next file export. Follow the instructions below to configure the audit trail log components.
Note: The Dispense Summary Log, User Action Logs, and Error Logs components are the default settings when you access the Audit Trail Settings window for the first time.
In the Audit Trail window, click the Audit Trail Settings button .
In the Audit Trail Settings window, choose from the following options:
Select or deselect the checkbox under the Display in Audit Trail column to determine whether you want to display each of the available components in the exported Audit Trail file.
Select or deselect the checkbox under the Save to Storage column to determine whether you want to save each of the available components in the MANTIS database.
Important: Any unsaved log components will not be exported in the next audit trail export file. We recommend saving all log components by selecting the checkboxes under the Save to Storage column.

Click OK when you’re done.
To ensure your dispense log security, you can add password protection to the exported PDF file.
In the Audit Trail window, click the Enable Password Protection option .

A password entry window will appear when you export a selected or all available log files.
Set New Audit Trail Document Window
Type a password in the New Password field with at least 8 characters.
Note: Each exported PDF file can be assigned a unique password. Use this password to open the exported file.
Click OK when you’re done. The file will be automatically exported to your defined location.
To open the exported file, go to the audit trail log file directory or click the View Export Directory button for quicker access.
Type the password in the Password entry window.
