Liquid Class Guidelines

Selecting the correct liquid class for your protein and well solutions results in more precise dispenses, as the NT8 has been programmed to handle liquids of different viscosities according to their specific properties.

Use the table below to help you select the correct liquid class.

Liquid Class Examples
Normal (N) Almost all buffers, salt solutions, and other aqueous solutions.
Medium (M) 20% MPD, Lysozyme protein, viscous solutions with viscosities at or below 50% PEG 4K.
High (H) 70% MPD, 50% PEG 5K.
Very High (V) Viscous solutions with viscosities at or below 50% PEG 6K or higher and 100% glycerol.

Note: The table above is for well solutions only; protein viscosity classes differ. Normal to High viscosity for a protein sample is equal to lysozyme 20 mg/mL to 100 mg/mL.
