When Rock Imager is in Automatic Mode, it is imaging plates according to their schedules set in Rock Maker (or ImagerLink).
You can override Automatic Mode by going to the Imager menu, point to Image, and select either Plate or Plate Using.
If you select Plate, the imager will image the plate with the default imaging setting.
If you select Plate Using, the imager will ask you to select custom imaging settings before imaging.
Example: You have plates inside the imager from crystallization experiment A, but recent images of experiment B's plates show promising crystal growth and you want to see how the crystals have developed before you leave the lab for the weekend. You find your plate using the Search sub-tab and select Image Plate. Rock Imager was already imaging a plate from experiment A. It finishes the current task and images your plate before returning to other scheduled imaging sessions.
