Testing TEMPEST Motors

The TEMPEST motor test sequence activates all stage and dispense-head motors to simulate movements used during operation. The motors test sequence covers the following steps:

Stage and Head Movement During Test Device Motors

These steps test the X, Y, and Z motors movement, in order to ensure optimal motor performance while the TEMPEST is running. The test may take a few minutes depending on the pre-defined cycle and dispense design. The more cycles you assign, the longer the test will take. Follow the instructions below to test the TEMPEST motors.

Prerequisites:

Note: TEMPEST will not execute the dispense and only test the head and stage movement.

To test the TEMPEST motors:

  1. Go to the Device menu and select Test Device Motor.

    Test Device Motors Option

  2. In the Test Device Motors, define the sequence repetitions according to your needs or use the default value of 100 times. Type a sequence number in the Motor Test Cycle field.

    Test Device Motors Window

  3. Click OK.

Important: If a motor skips during the motor test, a warning message will appear to inform you that the dispense is paused and the TEMPEST stage will move to the home position. Click Yes to continue the motor test or No to abort the test. We recommend you to contact FORMULATRIX support for further assistance with the motor skip.
