Direct Generation of Dispense List Files

It is possible to programmatically build a full TEMPEST dispense list with every possible variable. This can streamline automated workflows by removing the need to manually define your dispense list or import data from a .CSV file. as shown in the dispense list file format sample below. Read the description in the table for more detailed information, and pay close attention to the formatting.

No. Variable Description Acceptance Value
1. Version

Version of dispense list parser within the TEMPEST software.

Each TEMPEST software version comes with a parser version. The current dispense list parser is compatible with the previous versions, but we recommend upgrading the software to accommodate the parser to read the dispense list accurately.

2. Plate Type Name The name of the plate to be used in the dispense. Plate type file name
3. Priority Delays

The number of delays assigned in the dispense.

Priority Delays can be one or multiple delays according to your dispense needs. Each delay is separated by a tab (see the dispense list file format sample).

The following codes define the delay types:

  • 0 — No delay before the priority 1 reagents are dispensed
  • PR:1 — Delay for 1 second after priority 1 reagents are dispensed, followed by pre-dispensing and priming
  • NPDNPR:1 — Delay for 1 second after priority 2 reagents are dispensed, without pre-dispensing and priming
  • NPR:60 — Delay for 60 seconds after priority 3 reagents are dispensed, followed by pre-dispensing, but without priming
  • NPDPR:15 — Delay for 15 seconds after priority 4 reagents are dispensed, followed by priming, but without pre-dispensing
4. Reagent Name Name of the reagent to be used in the dispense. Reagent name
5. Barcode This variable is only for TEMPEST software version 2.0.0 or older.

6. Priority Specifies the reagent's priority during dispense. Number of priority (order of dispense)
7. Well Designer Defines the dispense volume in each well. See the dispense list file format sample.
