Viewing and Setting Drop Location

Note: Drop Location is not available for images that were updated manually.

Drop location is a ROCK IMAGER feature where ROCK IMAGER will attempt to locate the drops in your images and zero on in them. If drop location is turned on, two regions are created: The overview region, which allows you to see the whole well; and the drop region, which is a zoomed in image, focused on and limited to the drop.

Viewing Drop Location

When ROCK IMAGER's Drop Location algorithm is run on a drop during imaging, you can view the results on the Drop Tab. This algorithm analyzes an overview image of the well in order to pinpoint the location of the drop in the well.

Tip: On the Navigator, click Thumbnail view, and then click Regions. The location of the drop, as determined by ROCK IMAGER's Drop Location algorithm, is indicated by a red box on the Overview image.

Manually Setting Drop Location

On occasion ROCK IMAGER may not be able to locate a drop within the overview image, or may incorrectly locate a drop. In such cases, you can manually set drop location in Region view. The next time the drop is imaged, ROCK IMAGER will zoom in on the drop location you have specified.

Alternatively, you can command ROCK MAKER to execute the drop location algorithm on the drop a second time by right-clicking the drop location box and selecting Auto Locate Drop.

  1. Using the Navigator's thumbnail Region view, click the overview image. The overview image is the one ROCK IMAGER uses to run its Drop Location algorithm.

  2. Right-click the image and select Set Drop Location. A red box displays on the image.

    OR

In the Images contextual tab set, click the Drops tab, and click Set Drop Location.

  3. Click inside the box to select it.

  4. While holding down your mouse button, drag the box until it encloses the drop.

  5. While holding down your mouse button, drag the box until it encloses the drop.
