Status Bar

The NT8 status bar, located at the bottom of the software, provides you with glanceable and instantaneous information about the operating parameters, including system status, to better provide precision and reliability. To the right side of the Status Bar is a notification area displaying warnings that might require immediate attention. See the table below to learn about several sections in the NT8 status bar.

The NT8 Status Bar

Items Possible Statuses

Indicator Box

The icons in the indicator box vary depending on the NT8 hardware status:

  • Green: The NT8 Control Software has recognized and detected the NT8 instrument.

Tip: If you want to switch to simulation mode to test the task lists without engaging the hardware, click the green box.

  • Yellow: The NT8 instrument has been detected, but the software is in simulation mode.

  • Red: The NT8 instrument has not been detected. The software is running in simulation mode.

Stage Position

Gives the current NT8 stage position coordinates (X, Y, and Z).

Plunger Positions

Displays the current plunger positions for the low volume (LV), plate copy (PC), and lipidic cubic phase (LCP).

Temperature Sensor

Shows the instrument’s internal temperature level in degree Celsius.

Door Sensor

Indicates whether the NT8 enclosure is open or not. If it is open, the door sensor will automatically turn on and the icon will be grey . At this point, the NT8 will stop moving, and you cannot operate it until the enclosure door is closed. If it is closed, you will see this icon .

LCP Mixer Sensor

Indicates whether or not the LCP mixer plunger is connected to the stage. If connected, the sensor will automatically turn on. If you hover over the mixer sensor icon, it will display “LCP Mixer Locked.” At this point, you are not allowed to perform any experiments until you have disconnected the plunger from the stage.

LCP Syringe Indicator

Informs you whether or not the LCP syringe is attached. If attached, the LCP syringe indicator icon will turn into green, as shown in the image on the left.

Low Volume (LV) Tip Indicator

Indicates whether or not the LV tips are attached to the LV tip attachments on the NT8 head. If attached, the LV tip indicator icon will turn into green, as shown in the image on the left.

High Volume (HV) Tip Indicator

Informs you whether or not the HV tip is attached to the HV tip attachments on the NT8 head. If attached, the HV tip indicator icon will turn into green, as shown in the image on the left.

Notifications

Displays information that might require your immediate attention, such as whether the waste station is nearly full or if your license is nearly expired.
