The FORMULATOR interface has two views: Normal and Advanced. Advanced view is available through the View menu. Use Advanced View if you want to edit the Stock List or add a new type of plate to your library. For all other purposes, Normal View will suffice.
Normal View is divided into two areas: the Inputs panel and the Dispense List.

FORMULATOR Interface
Inputs |
The Inputs panel consists of a grid that represents your bottle inputs, and a table that displays the status, stock name, barcode number (if any) and dispense mode.
Tip: The FORMULATOR can dispense water from a bottle input, but if you don't place a reagent bottle with water in the FORMULATOR, the FORMULATOR will use the water tank connected to the back panel for water dispenses.
When the FORMULATOR detects a reagent at a bottle input, it will assign a color to the reagent. Use the following table to understand what the various colors on the Inputs panel mean.
Inputs Panel
Color | Description |
---|---|
Red |
A reagent bottle has been detected but has not been identified. |
White |
The reagent input is empty. |
Pale Green |
A reagent bottle has been identified but has not been primed. |
Bright Green |
A reagent bottle is being primed for dispensing and should not be removed. |
Green |
A reagent bottle is ready to be dispensed and should not be removed. |
Pale Blue |
A reagent bottle is being washed and should not be removed. |
Blue |
A reagent bottle has been washed and can be safely removed. |
Dispense List |
The Dispense List provides access to dispense information such as the reagent's barcode, its liquid class, the required total volume (including dead volume), minimum volume to be dispensed to a well, total well volume, and microplate type.
Dispense List
Tip: Mousing over the Dispense Volumes column in the Dispense List table will display a visual image of the dispense to the plate.
A green box means a reagent is primed.
A yellow box with a question mark means the liquid class for a reagent has not been set.
A red box means a reagent has not been identified at the bottle input. You must drag the stock to its bottle on the Inputs grid to resolve this issue.
Reading The Ingredients Table |
The Ingredients table, below the Inputs panel, provides you with more specific information about the status of the various bottle inputs.
Ingredients Table
Use the table below help you understand the columns on the Ingredients table.
