The Automatic Chip Changers (ACC) allow the MANTIS to automatically dispense up to six reagents without user intervention. Chips can be placed in any ACC position and will be automatically detected by the RFID system.
The tube holders are compatible with 50 mL Falcon tubes that are ideal for large volume dispenses or frequently used reagents. Adapters are available for other styles and sizes of source tubes.
The deck is compatible with all SBS plate types and deep well blocks. Available adapters allow dispensing into non-SBS labware.
The LED bar glows various colors, each indicating a different instrument status during software operation.
LED Color | Description |
---|---|
Multi-color/Rainbow | System is idle. |
Blue | MANTIS is busy or running a non-dispense sequence. |
White to Green | MANTIS is running a dispense. |
Green | The dispense was successfully executed. |
Red (blinking) | An error has occurred. |
Yellow | A warning notification requires operator input. |
White (bouncing) | When MANTIS software is disconnected, the LED indicator will show a small white light moving back and forth. |
The MANTIS arms control the hand movements when dispensing, loading, and unloading chips.
Magnets in the hand “grab” magnets in the chips to hold the chips during operation. The airlines that drive the chip run through small orifices in the hand.
Located on the lower-right of the deck, the plate clamp aligns and secures the plate during the dispensing process. The MANTIS V4 comes with an adjustable-force plate clamp.
The wash station sources are where the MANTIS holds wash solutions and water, used during the chip washing process. If you are running a 3-step Wash, fill the Wash Station 1 Source with water and Wash Station 2 Source with your chosen wash solution.
The USB ports hold the MANTIS USB flash drive and provide extra ports for future expansion. The last USB port (Type-B, located at the bottom) is used for connecting a USB cable from the MANTIS instrument to your computer.
The power switch turns the MANTIS on and off.
The power port is where you plug the power cable into the MANTIS.
The waste station is where the MANTIS will dispense waste liquid during priming, pre-dispensing, and QC activities.
The drop detection QC station is located at the Waste Station to detect liquid drops leaving the chip during priming or QC checking. See MANTIS Smart Detection Sensor System for more information.
