Creating a Liquid Class

Occasionally you might want to add or modify a liquid class. However, the settings for the default liquid classes in TEMPEST cannot be modified. Thus, creating your own liquid classes to the liquid classes list gives you an easy way to define your own custom delay, pressure, and vacuum settings for your reagents. This way, you can modify your custom delay or add new liquid class for your dispense at any time to suit your needs.

Prerequisites

TEMPEST Liquid Class Menu

To create a new liquid class:

  1. Go to the Tools menu, and select Liquid Classes.

  2. Click the Add button under the Liquid Class column
    OR
Select an existing liquid class and click the Duplicate button to create a copy of it.

  3. In the Liquid Class Name box, type a descriptive name of your liquid class and press Enter.

  4. To modify the values:

    1. Select the desired Chip Type tab.

    2. Modify the desired settings as needed. For more information about these settings, see Liquid Classes.

    3. Repeat step b to modify the settings for the other chip types as needed.

    4. When you’re done, click OK. Congratulations! Your new liquid class has been created.

  5. OPTIONAL: If you want to delete a custom liquid class, go to the Tools menu and select Liquid Classes. Select the desired liquid class, click the Delete button , then click Yes. Click OK to save the changes. You cannot delete the TEMPEST default liquid classes.

Important: The default liquid classes cannot be deleted. You also cannot delete any liquid class that is assigned to a reagent in the Reagent List, as it might interfere your dispensing process.

Important: The Pressure Vacuum Regulator settings should not be altered unless you are directed by FORMULATRIX support to do so, as it may adversely affect dispense accuracy.

Important: DO NOT exceed 25 psi for pressure or -20 inHg for vacuum. Doing so could damage your TEMPEST instrument.
