Adding a Dispense Delay

You can add a delay period to a dispense so that the TEMPEST pauses between reagents. This is useful when you need to wait for a specific reagent condition before continuing your dispense. In this section, you will learn to set an automatic dispense delay as part of a dispense list.

Prerequisites

• You have designed a dispense.

To add a dispense delay to a dispense list:

1. Click a dispense list item to select it.

2. Click the Add Delay button .

3. OPTIONAL: Drag the Delay row to a different position in the list, if desired.

4. Double click on the Delay row to configure the delay settings.

5. For the Delay Type option, select one of the available types:

   • Timer

     1. Select Timer as the Delay Type.

     2. Type the time period using hh:mm:ss format. TEMPEST will automatically calculate the Estimated Run Time.

     3. Proceed to step 6.

   • UserInput

     1. Select UserInput as the Delay Type.

     2. Proceed to step 6.

     Note: For Timer and UserInput delay, you can also use the Pre-dispense after delay option to allow TEMPEST performing a pre-dispense after the delay period, during dispense. Deselect this option to immediately dispense the next reagent after the delay.

   • Smart Batch

     1. Select Smart Batch as the Delay Type.

     2. Type the time period using hh:mm:ss format. TEMPEST will automatically calculate the Estimated Run Time and determine how many plates will be dispensed per batch in the Plate(s) per batch field.

     3. Proceed to step 6.

   

   Delay Settings

6. Click OK to apply your changes.

Note: To remove a dispense delay, select the delay you want to delete and click the Delete Reagent/Delay button .
