Continuous Flow (CF) is an optional feature of the TEMPEST V3 that enables you to dispense a constant stream of liquid for high-volume applications. The CF chip can dispense volumes from ~20 µL to ∞ µL in an uninterrupted stream, unlike the metered, pulsatile dispensing from the diaphragm chips. TEMPEST CF chips connect to glass labware with a GL45 cap, such as 250 mL Duran® laboratory bottles.
Continuous Flow Overview
The Continuous Flow features are available on all TEMPEST V3.1 or newer hardware, and existing systems can be upgraded by the FORMULATRIX support team. The following conditions must be met in order to access the TEMPEST Continuous Flow feature:
Once you have activated the Continuous Flow option, each reagent that you plan to use with a CF chip must be calibrated. Go to the Tools menu, select the Calibration Continuous Flow option, and follow the on-screen instructions.
The CF chip must be installed in chip position 1 when using the TEMPEST 3.8 software. The CF chip will function alongside the diaphragm pump chips, allowing for CF, HV, and LV chips to be installed on the same device.
