Setting Up TEMPEST Continuous Flow Chip for Dispense

Required Parts:

• TEMPEST Continuous Flow (CF) chip kit:

  Nozzle Strip (0.6 mm)
  GL45 Bottle, 250/500 mL size (Duran Pressure Plus or similar)

Continuous Flow Chip Kit Assembly

Required Tool:

• 2.5 mm Hex Screwdriver

Prerequisites:

• You are running the TEMPEST software version 3.8 or newer.

• You have connected the TEMPEST instrument to the laptop/PC.

To set up the CF chip to TEMPEST:

1. Assemble the tubings, bottle cap, and GL45 bottle by following these steps:

   • Attach the CF bottle cap to the GL45 bottle. Pay attention to the gasket seal on the bottle cap and ensure it sits flat.

   • Adjust the length and position of the tubings in the bottle by slightly loosening the three SHCS M3x8 screws using the 2.5 mm hex screwdriver until you can slide the tubes. Make sure you re-tighten the bolts after adjusting the tubing.

2. Turn on the TEMPEST instrument and open the software.

3. Go to the Chip Configuration settings by choosing from the following options:

   • Click the Setting buttonon the unassigned input in the Input Control Panel.

   • Go to the Tools menu, and then select Options.

4. In the Chip Configuration tab, click Move to Install Chip Position. At this stage, the TEMPEST head will automatically move forward to the chip installation position.

   Note: A notification will appear to prompt you to recover any excess reagent before installing the CF chip. Click Yes to continue.

5. Install the CF chip to input position #1. Then, insert the two tubings into the input rail. Read the installing TEMPEST chip guide for more details.

6. Insert the Air Pressure Source tubing from the back of the TEMPEST into the Push-to-Connect Fitting on the bottle cap.

7. Back to the Chip Configuration tab, input the installed CF chip Serial Number on the Chip 1 field. The Serial Number index must be TSCFxxx (for example, TSCF230106).

   Important: An errorindicator indicates that you have assigned the CF chip to an unallowable input position. The CF chip may only be installed in input position #1.

8. Click Save to save the configuration. See the Configuring the TEMPEST Chip section for more information.

9. After the CF chip has been properly installed, calibrate the chip from Continuous Flow Options under the Tools menu. Follow the Calibrating Continuous Flow Chips guide.

10. Congratulations! You are ready to design and run a dispense using a CF chip.
