Welcome to the ROCK IMAGER® Crystallization Imager Help

Welcome to the help file for ROCK IMAGER, an automated system for imaging crystallization plates. This help file is organized by ROCK IMAGER model, as options and techniques vary depending on the model that you own.

For example, if you have ROCK IMAGERs 1000, 182, or 54, before you load a plate into ROCK IMAGER for imaging, you must first create an experiment in ROCK MAKER in order to print a barcode. The barcode contains information about the imaging schedule and imaging settings to be used with that plate. As the ROCK IMAGER 2, SONICC® Crystal Detector, and FRAP Benchtop do not have internal storage, you can image plates without barcodes using a feature called Instant Imaging.

While most imaging tasks can be automated from ROCK MAKER® Crystallization Software, at times you may want to manually inspect your plate's contents or initiate an imaging session that was not on the plate's imaging schedule. As you've probably already figured out (since you're reading this help file), this is when you use the ROCK IMAGER software. You also use the ROCK IMAGER software to load and unload plates or perform more advanced plate management tasks, including fine-tuning drop location on a per-plate basis and applying image masks — both of which are accomplished with the Plate Type Editor.

The goal of this help file is to provide you with all the information you need to use ROCK IMAGER. If you have suggestions on how we can better reach that goal, please let us know.
