Status Bar

The NT8 Status Bar, located at the bottom of the software screen, provides you with instantaneous information about the system’s operating parameters, including system status, to better provide precision and reliability. To the right side of the Status Bar is a notification area displaying warnings that might require immediate attention. See the table below to learn about several sections in the NT8 Status Bar.

Items

Possible Statuses

connected

The Indicator Box icon varies depending on the NT8 hardware status.

  • Green: The NT8 Control Software has recognized and detected the NT8 hardware. If you want to switch to simulation mode to test the task lists without engaging the hardware, click the green box.

  • Yellow: The NT8 instrument has been detected, but the software is in simulation mode. Click the Indicator Box icon to exit simulation mode.

  • Red: The NT8 instrument has not been detected. The software is running in simulation mode.

Note

If the Indicator Box icon is red, make sure you have plugged the instrument into a power source, turned ON the power button, and plugged the NT8 into your computer using a USB 2 port.

stage

The Stage Positions show the current NT8 stage position coordinates (X, Y and Z).

plunger

The Plunger Positions display the current plunger positions for the low volume (LV), plate copy (PC) and lipidic cubic phase (LCP).

sensors

The Temperature Sensors show the instrument’s internal temperature level in degree Celcius.

enclosure

the Door Sensor indicates whether the NT8 hood is open or not. if it’s open the door sensor will automatically turn on and the icon will be grey, otherwise it’s green. At this point, the NT8 will stop moving and you cannot operate it until the hood is closed. You can also hover over the icon to see the status of the hood.

lcpmixer

The LCP Mixer Sensor indicates whether or not the LCP mixer plunger is connected to the stage. If connected, the sensor will automatically turn on. If you hover over the mixer sensor icon, it will display “LCP Mixer Locked.” At this point, you are not allowed to perform any experiments until you have disconnected the plunger from the stage.

calibratelcp

The LCP Syringe Indicator informs you whether or not the LCP syringe is attached. If attached, the LCP syringe indicator icon will turn into green.

lvtips

The LV Tip Indicator indicates whether or not the LV tips are attached to the LV tip attachments on the NT8 head. If attached, the LV tip indicator icon will turn into green, as shown in the image on the left.

hvtips

The HV Tip Indicator informs you whether or not the HV tip is attached to the HV tip attachments on the NT8 head. If attached, the HV tip indicator icon will turn into green, as shown in the image on the left.

carboylevel

The Carboy Water Level indicator provides continuous updates for the current water level in the carboy. This icon contains four water level indicators along with different colors. The water carboy is at the fullest when the bars are green, while red indicates low water level Low Water Level in the Carboy. When the water in the carboy reaches this level, you have to refill the carboy immediately to continue operations.

humidifier

The Humidifier Water Level Indicator Provides continuous updates for the current water level in the humidifier chambers. This icon contains four water level indicators along with different colors. At the fullest, the bars are green, while red indicates low water level Low Humidifier Chamber Water Level. The NT8 autofill feature will automatically refill the humidifier chambers, as long as there is enough water in the carboy.

Note

The NT8 will also notify you if it detects possible issues with the humidifier sensor by showing you this icon , Hover over it to find out the recommended actions to take without interrupting your aspiration and dispense tasks.

notification

Displays information that might require your immediate attention, such as whether the waste station is nearly full or if your license is nearly expired.
