Imager
The Imager Parts Overview
The Imager produces high-resolution cell images which Cellmatic Suite then analyzes to determine confluency or to perform a cell count. Cellmatic’s images and automated analyses are sufficient to move cell culture forward automatically, or the user can view the images and Cellmatic Suite reports to make decisions on when to initiate passaging. Either way, the images and reports are always available to the user.
To determine confluency, Imager’s low magnification (2x) lens images cells in an SBS plate: one well, four, eight, or 96.
To perform a cell count, Imager’s high magnification (10x) lens images cells in a specially designed cell counting plate.
Cell Counting Plate
The Cell Counting Plate
The cell counting plate is designed and manufactured by FORMULATRIX, specifically for use in the Cellmatic. It consists of 24 counting wells (4x6), each one a hemocytometer.
The FLO liquid handler dispenses 10 to 20 μL of stained cells into a counting well. The mixture wicks between the well’s bottom and its glass slide cover. The plate’s hydrophilic coating produces an even distribution of solution and cells across the well’s surface area.
Cellmatic stores counting plates in upper storage, and each plate is usable for up to a month after removal from its vacuum sealed plastic sleeve.
