Virtual Crystal Harvesting

Virtual crystal harvesting is harvesting your crystals and defining their positions using crystal masks from the Harvesting panel. If required, you can assign cryoprotectants and soaking ingredients to your crystals.

Crystal Masks

The Harvesting panel is accessible from the Drop menu on the experiment page and has three tabs: Crystal, Cryoprotectant, and Soaking. Opening the Harvesting panel will open the Crystal tab by default.

Crystal Tab

Crystal tab is where you draw a crystal mask to define the crystal position. A crystal cart will be added once you draw a crystal mask.

Number	Section/Checkbox/Button Name	Description
	Trip Selection	Displays the synchrotron trip chips you assign your crystals to and the Unassigned Crystal chip. Available by default, the Unassigned Crystals chip consists of a crystal(s) not assigned to a synchrotron trip.
	Action Menu with buttons and checkbox allowing you to:
	Select All Checkbox	Select all crystal carts.
	Harvest Crystal	Draw a crystal mask. This button is only available in the Unassigned Crystals chip. Once you draw a crystal mask, a crystal cart will appear. The color indicator of each crystal cart (e.g. ) is the crystal mask color (see the Crystal Masks image above).
	Lock	Lock a crystal mask. The button will be active if you select a crystal cart.
	Copy	Copy a cryoprotectant or a soaking ingredient.
	Paste Cryoprotectant	Paste a cryoprotectant to the Cryoprotectant field in a crystal cart.
	Paste Soaking	Paste a soaking ingredient to the Soaking field in a crystal cart.
	Delete	Delete a crystal cart.
	Assign Crystal	Assign a crystal to a synchrotron trip.
	Create Synchrotron Trip	Create a new synchrotron trip.
	Crystal Cart	Displays the crystal name, cryoprotectants and soaking ingredients you assign, and a note you add.

Cryoprotectant Tab

In this tab, you can add and modify cryoprotectants.

Each button and field in the tab enables you to:

	Add Well Ingredient	Use the crystal’s well ingredient(s) as a cryoprotectant.
	Edit	Modify a cryoprotectant.
	Add	Add a cryoprotectant.
	Delete	Delete a cryoprotectant from ROCK MAKER.
	Discard	Cancel changes. This button will be active when you click the Add button.
	Save	Save changes.

	Ingredient	Type the ingredient name.
	Conc.	Type the ingredient concentration.
	Unit	Select the ingredient concentration unit.
	pH	Type the ingredient pH.
	Protocol	Enter the protocol (personal note).

Soaking Tab

In this tab, you can add and modify soaking ingredients.

	Time	Type the soaking duration.
